Security appliances leverage multicore processors for best cost-performance

Walking round the exhibits at the recent RSA Conference in San Francisco, it was interesting to see that suppliers of security appliance products have overwhelmingly moved to multicore processors for their next-generation products. Engineers have concluded that multicore processors are the only viable solution for minimizing power consumption while sustaining multi-Gigabit line rates and running increasingly complex security software. 6WINDGate, including a full suite of high-performance networking, routing and security modules, is the ideal solution for developers who need to bring a high-performance, low-power solution to market in the shortest possible time. Click here to learn why 6WINDGate is ideal for these demanding security applications.

LTE networks rely on high-performance packet processing

Next-generation LTE networks run at line rates of 10Gbps and above. At this speed, platforms based on a standard embedded operating system (OS) can no longer sustain the required data rates, because of the inherent OS overhead involved in processing each packet. A new software architecture is necessary to meet the system-level requirements. 6WINDGate addresses this problem by performing low-level packet processing on dedicated cores within a "Fast Path" environment without the overhead of a standard OS. Click here to for details of how 6WINDGate provides the packet processing performance that LTE equipment requires.

Partnerships ensure complete and compatible system solutions

No-one selects an embedded software product in isolation. Developers always need to understand how that software product will fit into an overall system solution that typically involves hardware and software components from multiple suppliers. Partnerships ensure complete system solutions that save time and avoid headaches. Click here for information about companies who work in partnership with 6WIND to ensure the availability of best-in-class, compatible solutions that customers can chose with the confidence.

New partner product: RM4-100 AMC card from JumpGen Systems

The recently-announced RM4-100 AMC card from JumpGen Systems is an excellent example of a high-performance product based on a multicore processor and powered by 6WIND software.

Targeted at ATCA- and MicroTCA-based networking and telecom equipment, the RM4-100 is based on a NetLogic XLS416 quad-core processor. 6WINDGate is available for this platform, providing the high-performance packet processing capability that enables the RM4-100 card to address applications such as security appliances, telecom equipment, media gateways and video processing.
