The Open Network Engine
Advantage
Internet Protocol or IP software design and development is
increasingly complex. Strong market trends for competitive
revenue-generating Internet services are driving converging multi-services
IP gateways and communication systems. Networking OEMs
are required to offer products that will enable better security,
triple play services, VoIP and uninterrupted mobile broadband services
over any infrastructure and application domain.
System integrators are looking to integrate IP functionalities within
non-IP systems for defense, transport and industrial applications. Seamless
interoperability, service and performance scalability as well as
cost optimization are important preoccupations.
Rightly so, emerging wireless standards, dual
IP (IPv4 and IPv6), service convergence, processor innovation and
open source technologies as well as the race to market are compounding
engineering cost and resource pressures. Software development
represents between 50 to 80 percent of current product R&D budgets. More
than half of it is spent on pain-staking and time-consuming IP kernel
integration and testing instead of advanced services innovation.
To address these issues, 6WIND conceived the
Open Network
Engine (O.N.E.) Advantage
to enable networking OEMs and system integrators to focus on competitive
solution differentiation by largely reducing IP software development
and integration complexities.
The Open Network Engine Software Advantage that every 6WINDGate
software suites delivers is founded on 3 principles:
- Open software architecture incorporating an optimized
communication software distributed over reference Linux,
a smart in-built XML-based management framework and a modular
integration mechanism
- Network service evolution and performance scalability
enabled by a comprehensive set of advanced networking features
for any IP infrastructure
- Engine as the accelerator of IP system development and
integration with a ready-to-run software, empowering service
convergence and innovative e-applications
