6WIND EXPANDS SUPPORT FOR LATEST GENERATION OF INTEL MULTI-CORE PLATFORMS

OEMs Can Now Use 6WINDGate™ Fast Path Software on High Performance Rack Mount Servers from Intel

Paris, France November 26, 2007 - 6WIND (www.6wind.com), leader in advanced embedded networking software announced today a successful porting of 6WINDGate™ on the latest generation of Intel platforms based on the Intel® 5000P chipset and supporting two quad-core Intel® Xeon® processors, providing 8 cores for processing. OEM vendors are now able to use 6WINDGate™ Fast Path based software on high performance hardware such as rack mount servers from Intel that may be equipped with multi Gbps network interfaces to develop a large range of equipment for telecom infrastructure, UTM, media controllers or servers.

On top of this powerful hardware solution, 6WINDGate™ SDS provides a scalable software architecture that makes the best use of Multi-Core technology for Fast Path based applications while providing a complete set of network services including routing, virtual routing, IPsec, Layer 2 (GRE, VLAN), QoS functions, filtering, multicast and IPv6 transition for multi-Gbps applications. 6WINDGate™ also provides an XML based management architecture making the integration of networking features and applications easy to fully benefit from the processing capabilities of Intel multi-core platforms.

Intel Multi-Core Platforms

Dual-processor platforms based on the Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processor 5000 series provide high levels of computing for threaded applications delivering eight-thread, 32- and 64-bit processing capabilities. Validated with the Intel 5000P chipset the platform provides an excellent solution for intense computing and I/O-intensive workloads within high-end communications and enterprise systems such as rack-mount (1U/2U) and blade servers, as well as NAS and SAN systems and high-end medical imaging equipment.

6WINDGate™ Software Suites

6WINDGate™ software suites are embedded Internet Protocol (IP) software platforms for networking and security system vendors to easily build converging multi-services IP gateways meant for SOHO, SME, enterprise and ISP applications. Distributed over Linux, they incorporate the market's first comprehensive dual-IP COTS control and slow path data plane platforms for routing, security, QoS, mobility, IPv4-IPv6 transition, device and service management.
Hardened for SoC and network processors, the 6WINDGate™ scalable software suites are validated on x86, IXP4xx, IXP2xxx, and multi-core MIPS64 processor architectures.
