6WIND expands support
on Cavium OCTEON family for security and triple play OEMs
6WINDGate™ support for OCTEON CN38xx/CN36xx
Multi-core MIPS64 processors is expanded to include single and dual
core CN30xx/CN31xx for SOHO/SME multi-service CPEs
Paris, France and Beijing, China, September
12, 2006 - 6WIND, leader in advanced embedded networking software,
announced today, expanded 6WINDGate™ support for the OCTEON
MIPS64 Multicore processor family to include its single and dual
core OCTEON CN30xx and CN31xx. OEM vendors are now able to use the
same 6WINDGate™ software to produce a larger range of feature-rich
access and triple-play gateways, and from lower-end CPEs to 10Gbps
multi-services network security equipment.
OEMs looking to build a complete range of scalable
high-performing appliances for networking across-the-board, can
take advantage of the OCTEON-compatible 6WINDGate™ software
which matches in price and performance, reducing significant risks
and costs. 6WINDGate™ provides OEMs using OCTEON with a comprehensive
management and control application, which has been optimized to
include tight interfaces with the OCTEON SDK (software development
kit), enabling seamless integration. Any customization done on the
6WINDGate™ software, for example a UNIX application add-on,
is automatically applicable on other OCTEON processors if required.

Suites
6WINDGate™ software suites are embedded
Internet Protocol (IP) software platforms for networking and security
system vendors to easily build converging multi-services IP gateways
meant for SOHO, SME, enterprise and ISP applications. Distributed
over Linux, they incorporate the market's first comprehensive dual-IP
COTS control and slow path data plane platforms for routing, security,
QoS, mobility, IPv4-IPv6 transition, device and service management.
Hardened for SoC and network processors, the 6WINDGate™ scalable
software suites are validated on x86, IXP4xx, IXP2xxx, and multi-core
MIPS64 processor architectures. All of 6WINDGate™ software
suites comply with IETF, and has successfully demonstrated network-readiness
