6WINDGate™ v.2.8 is the first Linux-based
embedded networking software to support both standard IPsec hardware
cryptography API and multi-core processors, enabling security OEMs
to build a wider range of integrated security-networking appliances

6WINDGate™ software 2.8, to particularly benefit security gateway
vendors keen on exploiting the performance capabilities of IPsec
hardware crypto-accelerators and new multi-core MIPS64 processors.
The new release features a unique "fast-path-ready"
software architecture supporting the OCF standard adopted by leading
processor vendors for IPsec hardware crypto-accelerator. 6WINDGate™
software's carefully-designed APIs implementing this standard provide
card-independent access to accelerator functionality. The 6WINDGate™
OCF implementation on Intel's IXP425 has been proven to outperform
most vendors' cryptographic performance. Another networking software
industry first is the 6WINDGate™ validation on multi-core MIPS64
to enable multi-gigabit security-enabled forwarding performance.
This unique combination enables security OEMs to build a wider range
of high-performing multi-services security gateways, benefiting
both from cost-effective and performance-optimized processors, using
the same software.
