As IP becomes the convergence layer to federate
ubiquitous communication services for new multi-media
homes and enterprises, net-centric defense and
industrial applications, many standalone appliances
and systems need to integrate or be designed on
advanced IP technologies. The intelligence of
a networking product is shifting to a large extent
from the hardware to its embedded IP software.

to be around 10 percent of total development cost.
